First Saturday Devotions
“Have compassion on the heart of your most Holy Mother”
The First Saturday Devotion is a simple way of responding to the message of Our Lady of Fatima through prayer, repentance and reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Our Parish supports this devotion by providing Mass, Holy Communion and Confession each First Saturday, with time for prayer and reflection.
Everything needed is available within the parish, with flexibility to complete the Rosary and meditation at home.
First Saturday Devotion Requirements
Our Lady of Fatima promised “to assist at the hour of death with the graces necessary for salvation all those who, in order to make reparation to me, on the First Saturday of five successive months” do the following:
Go to confession
Receive Holy Communion
Say five decades of the Rosary
Keep Our Lady company for fifteen minutes meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary
All of the above should be carried out with the intention of making reparation to Our Lady.

Why First Five Saturdays?
The five first Saturdays correspond to the five kinds of offences and blasphemies committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary. They are:
Those committed against the Immaculate Conception
Those committed against the virginity of Our Lady
Those committed against the Divine Maternity, refusing at the same time, to accept Her as the Mother of all men
Those committed by attempting to instil indifference, scorn and even hatred for this Immaculate Mother in the hearts of children
Those committed by direct insults against Her sacred images.
Meditation
Set aside 15 minutes to keep Our Lady company in quiet prayer:
Choose one mystery of the Rosary
Reflect on the Gospel scene
Speak to Our Lady in your own words
Rest in silence before God
This is a simple time of attentive, prayerful presence.
Taking Part
The devotion is meant to be simple and accessible, and can be completed across the day:
Mass and Holy Communion – attend at the parish on the First Saturday
Confession – make use of Confession on the First Saturday (or a few days before or after)
Rosary – pray either before or after Mass, or at home
Meditation – spend your 15 minutes in church, at home, or in a quiet place
This flexibility allows parishioners to take part even with busy schedules, while still fulfilling the devotion faithfully.
Where possible, many find it helpful to:
Arrive early for Mass to pray the Rosary
Stay afterwards for quiet meditation
Offer the whole day prayerfully, with a spirit of reparation
A Gentle Invitation
The First Saturday Devotion is a simple but faithful response to Our Lady’s call—drawing us closer to Christ through prayer, repentance, and love.
All are warmly invited to begin this First Saturday Devotion, which starts on Saturday 4th July 2026.
Our Lady promised (Fatima, July 13, 1917) that the continued practice of the First Saturdays
will help bring about a period of peace and the salvation of many souls.
