Angels on our shoulders
In this month of September of 2026 when we hear the drums of war being beaten by governments in Europe and also here in the UK, it is time to recall that this month is about the angels. We need the War hosts of God to fight the servants of darkness who rule the corridors of power. During the Second World War soldiers spoke of their war planes that over flew them and attacked the enemy as ‘angels on our shoulders’, well let us make sure we engage the angels to defend us in this time of battle, be it spiritual, intellectual, moral or physical battle.
The War hosts of God are the angels and September is the month when we remember, study and pray to the Angels: the 9 choirs of angels [Seraphim · Cherubim · Thrones - Dominations · Virtues · Powers - Principalities · Archangels · Angels], the Archangels and our guardian angels. It is time to ask for their protection from all the war mongers who seek to afflict the common people with weapons of destruction, even weapons of mass destruction. For you see there are those among the powerful who serve Satan and his demons but we must serve Our Lord, Our Lady, the Saints and God’s holy angels.
Bless the Lord, all you His Angels, you who are mighty in strength and do His will.
Intercede for me at the throne of God, and by your unceasing watchfulness protect me in every danger of soul and body.
Obtain for me the grace of final perseverance, so that after this life I may be admitted to your glorious company and may sing with you the praises of God for all eternity.
O all you holy Angels and Archangels, Thrones and Dominations, Principalities and Powers and Virtues of heaven, Cherubim and Seraphim, and especially you, my dear Guardian Angel, intercede for me and obtain for me the special favour I now ask (state your intention here…).
Say nine Our Fathers…
Now let me introduce you to the Chaplet of St Michael in and through which we will come to learn and reflect on the 9 choirs of angels {there maybe more] that Tradition and Scripture has made known to us. With this chaplet you will draw closer to Our Lord in the Eucharist and both you and your loved ones will also come under their protection.
O Lord deliver us from the war mongers, war propagandists and profiteers of our time who desire to bring about another great War, so as to control us, ration us, press gang us, surveil us, deprive us of our possessions and treasures; limit our movements, our speech our freedoms; and even curtail the proclamation of the Gospel in our streets, our public spaces and our national institutions. St Michael protect us. St Gabriel strengthen us. St Raphael heal us. Our Guardian angels lead, guide and defend us.
